As we roll into a new year, the opportunities for transformation are endless—but only if you’re ready to grab them. 2025 is your year to go all in, level up, and dominate every area of your life.

Whether you’re focused on crushing your career goals, leveling up your mindset, improving your fitness, or strengthening your relationships, it’s time to step into Beast Mode.

This 5-step strategy isn’t fluff—it’s the ultimate blueprint for turning ambition into action and action into results. No more excuses. No more holding back. If you’re ready to make 2025 your biggest year yet, let’s get after it. Let’s build, grow, and dominate.

Step 1: To Go Beast Mode You Need To Define Your “Why” and Set Crystal-Clear Goals

The foundation of Beast Mode success starts here: your ‘why.’ What drives you to wake up early, put in the hours, and push through when it gets tough? If you don’t know your ‘why,’ you’ll quit the second obstacles hit. But when your goals are tied to purpose, nothing will stop you.

You have subs, so we have subs…Here are 3 sub-steps to accomplish this step:

Define Your “Why”

Your ‘why’ is personal. It’s the fire that keeps you going when others give up. Some examples to get your mind going:

  • Providing a better life for your family?
  • Building a business legacy your kids can take over?
  • Earning the financial freedom to call your own shots?
  • Proving to yourself that you’re capable of greatness?

Whatever it is, your ‘why’ has to be so strong that no excuse or obstacle can break you.

Action Step: Grab a pen and paper and write it down. Put it somewhere you’ll see every day—on your truck dashboard, in your office, or as a phone background. Your ‘why’ is your anchor.

Set SMART Goals That Work

Now that you know your ‘why,’ it’s time to turn that drive into results with SMART goals:

  • Specific: Clearly define what you want to achieve.
  • Measurable: Add numbers to track progress.
  • Achievable: Stretch yourself, but keep it realistic.
  • Relevant: Align your goals with your ‘why.’
  • Time-bound: Set a deadline to keep the pressure on.

Example: Don’t just say, ‘I want to make more money.’ Instead, set this goal: ‘I’ll increase my income by 30% by December 2025 by landing 10 high-value remodel projects and improving my estimation turn around time.’

See the difference? Clear goals = clear results.

Write Down Your Top 3 Goals

Here’s where the real work begins.  Write down your top 3 goals for 2025. Make them SMART.

  • Is it hitting a specific revenue number?
  • Hiring a crew to take on bigger jobs?
  • Finishing 10 projects on time and under budget?

Be specific. Write it down. Because a goal that isn’t written down is just a wish.

Your ‘why’ is the fuel, and SMART goals are the map. Without both, you’re driving blind.

Without goals, it’s like giving estimates without measuring or assessing the job.

But when you connect your goals to your purpose and lay out a clear plan, you’ll push through anything 2025 throws at you. The contractors who write their goals and execute relentlessly are the ones who win—every single time.

Step 2: To Go Beast Mode You Need To Protect Your Time and Master Your Energy

Time is your most valuable resource, and energy is the fuel that drives your productivity. If you’re going to dominate 2025, you need to operate at maximum efficiency by managing both like a pro. The difference between average contractors and top-tier beasts? They don’t just work hard—they work smart.

Here are the three sub-steps to make this happen:

Use a Time-Blocking System

Time-blocking isn’t optional—it’s a must. When I started managing projects, creating content, and running multiple businesses, if it wasn’t for time-blocking I would have gone crazy.

The best contractors treat their schedule like a job site: every hour has a purpose. Schedule specific blocks of time for:

  • Work: Focused time for high-value tasks like estimates, proposals, and strategic planning.
  • Meetings: Client calls, team check-ins, or vendor discussions—put them in the calendar.
  • Exercise and Power Routines: Your body is a machine. If you’re not strong and sharp, your business won’t be either.
  • Leisure and Recovery: You can’t go Beast Mode if you’re always burned out. Rest fuels performance.

Tools to Use: Apps like Google Calendar  will keep your day organized and your goals on track. Block out your day the night before, so you wake up with a clear game plan and zero guesswork.

I get it, sometimes you’ll get a call about an urgent matter during your exercise or content creating time. If you must take the call, then try to add however long it took to address the issue back to the time-blocked task.

Prioritize High-Impact Tasks (Pareto Principle)

Not all tasks are created equal. The Pareto Principle says 20% of your actions create 80% of your results. What does that mean for you?

  • Focus on the critical tasks that move the needle:
    • Following up on leads that bring in revenue.
    • Perfecting bids for high-value projects.
    • Managing schedules to keep jobs on time and under budget.
  • Cut out the low-impact busywork. Don’t confuse being busy with being productive.

Action Step: Start each day by asking, ‘What’s the ONE thing I can do today that’ll have the biggest impact on my business?’ Then get it done first.

Optimize Your Energy Levels

Energy management is as important as time management. You can’t build a business if you’re running on fumes. Here’s how to operate at peak energy:

  • Start Your Day with a Power Routine: Win the morning, win the day. Build a routine that works for you—try a combo of:
    • Meditation or journaling to clear your mind.
    • Exercise to jumpstart your energy.
    • Reviewing your goals to stay focused on what matters.
  • Avoid Energy Zappers: Junk food, excessive screen time, and late nights kill your focus and performance. Treat your body like your tools—keep it sharp and ready.
  • Incorporate Regular Breaks: Take short breaks to reset, especially during intense days on-site. A 5-minute pause can give you the energy to push harder in the afternoon.

Before you think “meditate”, I don’t even have time to eat lunch, much less meditate.” To be honest, I felt the same way, then I came across this Zen proverb that states, “If you don't have time to meditate for an hour, you should meditate for two hours”

In other words, if you don’t think you have time to take care of yourself, you probably need it more than someone who thinks they do.

Beast Mode Tip: The 2-Minute Rule

Small tasks are like weeds—they pile up and clutter your mind. Adopt the 2-Minute Rule: If a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately.

  • Reply to that quick email.
  • Shoot off a text confirming a meeting.
  • Organize tools or paperwork on the spot.

This simple habit keeps small tasks from snowballing and clears mental clutter, so you can focus on what matters most.

Managing your time and energy isn’t just about working hard—it’s about working smarter. Use time-blocking, prioritize high-impact tasks, and fuel your body and mind for success.

In 2025, the contractors who master these skills will operate on another level. If you’re serious about Beast Mode, it starts here: dominate your day, and you’ll dominate your year.

Step 3: To Go Beast Mode You Need To Develop Resilience Through a Growth Mindset

Adversity is inevitable in this business. Jobs fall through. Clients push back. Crews make mistakes. But here’s the truth: how you respond determines your success.

The top contractors don’t see setbacks as failures—they see them as opportunities to improve, grow, and come back stronger. That’s the power of a growth mindset.

The simple fact that you are in this business, tells me you are resilient. And the other fact that you are reading this article tells me you have a growth mindset.

Here the four sub-steps to become more resilient and focus on growth:

Embrace Challenges

Challenges aren’t roadblocks—they’re stepping stones to greatness. Every difficult project, every tough conversation, and every long day on-site is building your character and sharpening your skills. Here are some examples:

  • When a job gets delayed? Figure out the solution and keep moving.
  • When a bid doesn’t win? Analyze what went wrong and improve for next time.
  • When the weather slows you down? Adapt, plan, and stay ahead.

Action Step: Stop avoiding hard things. Lean into them. The challenges you face today are shaping you into the contractor who’ll dominate tomorrow.

Reframe Negative Thoughts

Your mind is your greatest tool—or your biggest obstacle. If you’re telling yourself, ‘I can’t do this,’ you’ve already lost. Flip the script:

  • Instead of, ‘I can’t manage big projects,’ say, ‘I haven’t mastered this yet, but I will.’
  • Instead of, ‘This is too hard,’ say, ‘This is an opportunity to get better.’
  • Instead of ‘I’m not good at sales or marketing’, say ‘I can learn how to become better at sales and marketing by learning an hour a day’

Your words matter. Not just the words you say, but the words you think and the way to talk to yourself.

When you train your brain to look for solutions instead of problems, you become unstoppable.

Action Step: The next time you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, pause and reframe them into a challenge you’re ready to tackle.

Celebrate Progress

In construction, progress happens one step at a time—just like success. Acknowledge every small win because those small victories stack up into massive results:

  • Finished a project under budget? That’s a win.
  • Landed a new client after weeks of follow-ups? Celebrate it.
  • Improved a workflow or trained a new crew member? You’re building momentum.

Why It Matters: Recognizing progress keeps your motivation high and reminds you that you’re moving forward, even when it feels slow.

Learn From Feedback

Feedback is a gift—treat it like one. The best contractors don’t just accept constructive criticism; they actively seek it out to get better.

  • Ask mentors, peers, or trusted crew members for honest feedback: ‘What can I improve? What would make me a better leader or contractor?’
  • Use that feedback to refine your systems, processes, or skills. Growth doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when you’re intentional about improving.

Pro Tip: Don’t take feedback personally; take it professionally. Every insight is an opportunity to level up.

Beast Mode Tip: Practice Daily Affirmations

This might sound sillier to you than meditating, but doing this really helps you with your mindset and hitting your goals.

Your mindset isn’t set in stone—it’s something you can train, like a muscle. Start each day with powerful affirmations that reinforce your growth mindset.

Examples:

  • ‘I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.’
  • ‘Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow.’
  • ‘I show up every day, ready to improve and dominate.’

Say these out loud every morning. Write them down. Stick them in your truck or toolbox. Over time, these affirmations will rewire your mindset to focus on success and resilience.

Resilience isn’t just about pushing through—it’s about growing through. Challenges, setbacks, and feedback are all opportunities to get stronger.

Develop a growth mindset, embrace hard things, and train your brain to see obstacles as opportunities. That’s how you stay in Beast Mode and dominate 2025.

Step 4: To Become a Beast of A GC You Need To Execute Relentlessly and Stay Consistent

Dreams don’t work unless you do. The hustle is real in this industry—whether you're swinging a hammer, managing a crew, or landing the next big project, execution is what separates the talkers from the doers. Success in 2025 will belong to those who show up every single day and put in the work.

Here are three sub-steps to become an action-taker:

Focus on Consistency, Not Perfection

Perfection is a myth. Progress is what pays. Every day, focus on consistent action, not getting it perfect. If you’re waiting for everything to line up perfectly, you’ll be waiting forever—and someone else will take the job while you’re standing still.

Create Your ‘Non-Negotiables’ List

These are the 3-5 critical tasks that you commit to completing daily—no matter what chaos the day throws at you. For general contractors, this might look like:

  1. Calling 3 leads every morning before 9 a.m.
  2. Following up on bids from the past 7 days.
  3. Checking your job sites and ensuring deadlines stay on track.
  4. Reviewing expenses and budgets daily to avoid overspending.
  5. Posting progress photos or videos online to market your work.

‘Non-negotiables’ are your daily foundation—they keep you moving forward.

Stay Motivated: The 1% Rule

Beast mode doesn’t mean burning yourself out. It means relentless improvement. Aim to get 1% better every single day. That’s it.

  • Make one phone call you would’ve skipped.
  • Tighten up your scheduling just a bit.
  • Learn one new tool, skill, or tech that helps you run projects smoother.

Those small, consistent gains compound into massive results. Remember, 1% better today makes you 37 times better by the end of the year. Let that sink in.

When you show up relentlessly—when you stick to your non-negotiables and improve even 1% a day—you’re unstoppable.

In 2025, the contractors who execute will dominate. The ones who hesitate will be left behind. Which side do you want to be on?

Step 5: To Become A Top Producing GC You Need Level Up Your Environment and Network

Your environment isn’t just where you work—it’s the foundation of your success. If you’re serious about going Beast Mode in 2025, it’s time to audit, upgrade, and elevate the space around you and the people in your circle.

Here are the three sub-steps to upgrade your network:

Optimize Your Physical Environment

Clutter kills productivity. If your workspace is messy, your mind will be, too. Take a hard look at your tools, trucks, and office:

  • Is your shop organized so you’re not wasting 15 minutes looking for a tool?
  • Is your truck clean and stocked so you’re ready for any job?
  • Is your office or job trailer set up to keep you focused on bids, budgets, and growth?

Upgrade your tools—you can’t go Beast Mode with outdated gear slowing you down. Whether it’s a new drill, better project management software, or a phone upgrade, invest in tools that save you time and money.

Basically, I’m giving you permission to go buy that new tool at Lowes (in case you need an excuse for your wife or girlfriend).

Key Takeaway: A productive environment fuels productive action. The cleaner, sharper, and more efficient your space, the easier it is to dominate.

Surround Yourself with High-Level People

Your environment isn’t just physical—it’s the people you let into your life. If you want to level up in 2025, you need to be around people who challenge you to grow. Ask yourself:

  • Do my crew and team push for excellence, or do they settle for ‘good enough’?
  • Are the people I network with sharing insights, opportunities, and strategies?
  • Am I learning from other contractors, mentors, or business owners who are already where I want to be?

Rule of Thumb: Your network is your net worth. If you’re always the smartest, hardest-working person in the room, you’re in the wrong room. Seek out masterminds, trade groups, and mentors. Surround yourself with winners, and their mindset will rub off on you.

Locally for me in Austin, I’m a member of a few local contractor groups where we interact and network with each other. They also throw in person events!

Audit Your Environment Today

Here’s your challenge: Take action right now. What’s ONE change you’ll make to level up your environment or network?

  • Will you organize your workspace and finally clear the chaos?
  • Will you invest in a tool that increases your efficiency?
  • Will you reach out to someone who inspires you and ask for advice or mentorship?

Small moves create massive momentum. The contractors who succeed in 2025 are the ones who audit their environment, level it up, and surround themselves with people who make them better.

A Beast Mode mindset requires a Beast Mode environment. Upgrade your tools, declutter your space, and elevate your circle. Your future success is shaped by the space you work in and the people you work with. Don’t settle—level up and dominate.

The Beast Mode Mindset: Push Beyond Your Limits

Crushing 2025 requires a commitment to stepping out of your comfort zone and pushing beyond perceived limits. Embrace challenges, learn from failures, and continuously strive for excellence.

Actionable Tips:

  • Set Stretch Goals: Aim for objectives slightly beyond your current capabilities. Growth happens outside of comfort zones. Go set your goals! Think Big!
  • Track Your "Impossible" Wins: Celebrate achievements you once thought were out of reach. This builds confidence and momentum. Write down things you’ve accomplished in the past to get your motivation back.
  • Adopt a "Do Whatever It Takes" Mentality: Approach every goal with determination and persistence, no matter the obstacles.

Beast Mode Tip: Remember, success is not about perfection but progress. Show up every day with 100% effort, and results will follow.
